MONEY sent home by overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) fell by 1.4 percent in August from a year earlier, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas reported on Monday.

Personal remittances—comprising OFWs’ net compensation, personal transfers whether in the form of cash or in kind, and capital transfers between households—hit $2.76 billion during the month, down from $2.8 billion a year earlier but 3 percent higher compared to the $2.675 billion booked in July 2018.
