Former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. failed to offer an explanation in connection with the Anti-Money Laundering Council’s (AMLC) findings regarding his huge bank deposits, according to Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Efren de la Cruz.
Voting 3-2, the Sandiganbayan’s Special First Division acquitted Revilla of plunder in connection with the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or pork barrel scam. The court convicted Janet Lim-Napoles and Richard Cambe, Revilla’s former aide, and sentenced them to reclusion perpetua with perpetual absolute disqualification to hold any public office.
