SIGNAL No. 1 is up in parts of Visayas and Mindanao as tropical depression “Samuel” intensified on Monday, the state-run weather bureau said on Monday.

”Samuel” was spotted 605 kilometers east-southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, moving west-northwest at 15 kilometers per hour (kph) and packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center, with gustiness of up to 65 kph, the Philippine Astronomical, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
