The thrift banking industry remains supportive of the country’s economic growth as reflected by its lending performance, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said on Friday.

“This industry has been an enabler of economic development by encouraging savings and extending credit to crucial sectors of the economy,” BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno said in his speech during the Chamber of Thrift Banks’ (CTB) convention in Makati City.
