THE law against sexual harassment has been in effect for more than 23 years since its enactment in 1995. The law prohibits sexual harassment in the workplace and in the education environment, which may be committed essentially in two ways: a) by direct solicitation of sexual favors in exchange for special benefit or preferential treatment; and b) by creating a hostile environment for the victim. Here, the key ingredient in sexual harassment is the feelings of or effect on the victim as a result of the offender’s act.
