The Social Security System (SSS) will heed state auditors’ recommendation to expedite the recruitment of more account officers (AOs) for proper monitoring of “delinquent” employers, after an audit found P13 billion in uncollected contributions from members.

“The delinquencies in the remittance of premium contributions including penalties of 122,658 employers accumulated to P13.778 billion as of December 31, 2017 due to the lack of Account Officers (AOs) to monitor the remittances. Thus, the System was deprived of additional funds for administering social security protection for its members,” the Commission on Audit (CoA) report said.
