The National Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology- University of the Philippines Los Baños (Biotech-UPLB) is pushing biological pest control as a measure to control pests and diseases.
Mannix Pedro, PhD and his colleagues at Biotech-UPLB believe nature has a way of healing itself and have studied how yeast can be used to lessen the damage caused by microorganisms in harvested fruits and vegetables like mango, banana, bell pepper and eggplant.
