De La Salle University wrapped up its University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 76 campaign with glamor and pride as it officially bagged its second-straight general championship trophy.
Despite losing the women’s volleyball crown, the La Salle community still has reasons to celebrate after successful stints in almost all fronts and earned a total of 289 points.
La Salle ruled the men and women’s basketball, women’s chess, men’s table tennis, men’s tae kwon do, and women’s judo, and placed second in men’s swimming, women’s table tennis, women’s tennis, men’s fencing, and baseball.
The recent runner-up trophy was delivered by the Lady Spikers, who lost to Ateneo de Manila University in the finals.
Former titlist University of Santo Tomas, which dominated the women’s tae kwon do and poomsae, took the second spot anew after gaining 274 points while University of the Philippines placed third with 235 points following its strong finishes in men and women’s swimming, and women’s table tennis.
Ateneo, owner of the men’s baseball, men and women’s badminton, men’s judo and women’s volleyball, is in fourth with 224 points followed by Far Eastern University (193), National University (154), University of the East (138) and Adamson University (108).
FEU won in men and women’s football, men and women’s athletics, and men’s chess; NU topped the men’s volleyball, men’s beach volleyball, and men and women’s tennis; UE reigned supreme in the men and women’s fencing; and Adamson copped titles in women’s beach volleyball and softball.
The awarding of the general championship is on Saturday at the Century Park Hotel in Manila.
UE will host the 77th edition of the league.
