THE Philippine National Police (PNP) will procure more sub-machine guns and hi-tech radio equipment worth P150 million, a senior police official said on Tuesday.
PNP spokesman Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr. said the purchase of the firearms is part of the Capability Enhancement Program (CEP) of the police force.
“We are now opening the bidding process for the procurement of 743 submachine guns and 43 units of Single Side Banf (SSB) radios,” Cerbo told reporters.
He said the Approved Budget for the Contract (ABC) for the acquisition of the 743 units of submachine guns is P133,740,000 while P17 million was allotted for the acquisition of 43 units of SSB radios.
The PNP spokesman said they are now inviting bidders for the project that aims to enhance the firepower and communication capability of police ground units.
Cerbo said the bid documents may be downloaded from the website of the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (Philgeps) and the PNP website at www.pnp.gov.ph .
The vice-chairman of the PNP Bids and Awards Committee, Director Juanito Vano, said a pre-bid conference will be held at the PNP main conference room on March 17, 2015.
