Former karter Estefano Rivera swept both rounds during the third leg of the 2015 Toyota Vios Cup Season 2 held at the Manila Bay Circuit in Pasay City to punctuate Team Toyota Alabang’s dominant performance.
Rivera bested 19 others in round five of the Sporting Class series including Cebu leg winner Andres Calma and Bobby Domingo who finished second and third place ,respectively, making it a 1-2-3 finish for Toyota Alabang.
In round six, Rivera once again pulled away from the start which was marred by an accident on lap 2 forcing race director Ferdie Ong to send out the safety car. Upon race restart, Rivera never looked back and controlled the tempo of the race which consisted of 14 laps.
Two former karters joined Rivera on the podium, Daniel Miranda of Toyota Balintawak finishing in second place followed by Domingo.
“I feel so blessed and grateful that I was able to pull off from that grueling race. I feel the importance of hard work and dedication of the whole team. Even team boss Mike Lee is always present during practice,” said Rivera. As for mother Fanny, “Our game plan will be the same, we will continue to prepare physically and mentally as well as anticipate all possible conditions coming in to the next race in Subic.”
In the Promotional Class, another Toyota Alabang driver, Miguel Diaz emerged on the top spot of the podium in round five keeping his cool to take the checkered flag ahead of Cebu’s Lord Seno and JV Ejercito. Diaz again replicated his win in round six but trailing him this time was Alexis Salvador of Toyota San Fernando and Toyota Motor Philippines president Michinobu Sugata.
Celebrities Phoemela Baranda and Sam YG split top honors in rounds five and six leaving behind Jinno Rufino, Joyce Pring, Fabio Ide, Kyle Padilla, and Jasmie Curtis-Smith.
