Filipinos less upbeat about finances – poll
THE high cost of living and interest rates have led to a less optimistic financial outlook among Filipinos, a study showed, with most considering themselves to be at best lower middle class or below. A TransUnion study revealed that 27 percent of the population in the Philippines viewed themselves as low-income, and 38 percent said that their wealth was below P250,000. Among the unbanked, 44 percent considered themselves in the lower income category, 61 percent assessed their wealth as less than P250,000, and only 54 percent had knowledge about credit. MR.DIY, Pagna't Imontanosa Group mark 3 years of 'Pencil for a Smile'
HEAVY rains, thick fog and steep zigzagged roads were no hindrance to the representatives of MR.DIY, a leading home improvement retailer, as they embarked on a grueling 8-hour journey to bring smiles to schoolchildren in Benguet Province for "Pencil for a Smile." With the help of the RECU Cordillera K9 Unit together with representatives of the Pagna't Imontanosa Group, the team braved roads that sometimes disappeared into the terrain to reach the isolated communities in the town of Tuba, where Ligay Elementary School, Ligay Day care Center and Bes-ig Day care Center were located.
