Grandfather, 70, completes senior high school education
(UPDATE) APARRI, Cagayan – Perseverance and dedication to learning paved the way for a grandfather in this town to graduate from senior high school. The proud grandfather was identified as Hilario Jabines, a 70-year-old senior high school student from Aparri East National High School under the Alternative Learning System or ALS program. Due to economic difficulties, Jabines said he had to stop school, but despite this, he was able to support his family and send all five children to school, all of whom earned their professional degrees. Jabines said he did not mind the teasing he got due

PSEi to take cues from BSP meeting
INVESTORS will likely stay cautious ahead of Thursday's monetary policy meeting, analysts said, following last week's lower-than-expected first quarter growth results and higher April inflation. The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi), which has fallen for two consecutive weeks, ended 1.57 percent lower week-on-week at 6,511.93 last Friday. Bargain-hunting should be expected this week with the PSEi trading at "attractive levels," Philstocks Financial Inc. senior research analyst Japhet Tantiangco said. Traders, however, will continue to exercise caution as they

Tigresses played too stiff – Kungfu
THE UST Golden Tigresses played too serious to the point that they were playing stiff instead of enjoying the game. This is what coach Kungfu Reyes thought was the reason why UST fell to the NU Lady Bulldogs, 23-25, 20-25, 20-25, in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball finals Game 1 at the Araneta Coliseum on May 11. We've experienced playing in this atmosphere in the preseason but not here with this big of a venue,
